Privacy Policy

Wevilly is in pre-alpha.

This is early, experimental software. Features may change or break, the service may be unavailable at times, and your data may be reset or deleted at any time without notice as we build. No payments are processed on Wevilly during the pre-alpha. Use it at your own risk, and please send feedback through the in-app widget.

This Privacy Policy explains how Wevilly (“Wevilly,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Wevilly website, apps, and services (the “Service”). By using Wevilly, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you give us, information created as you use the Service, and a little from the tools we rely on to run it.

  • Account information — your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and, during the pre-alpha, the invite code you used to join.
  • Profile and content — everything you choose to add: your profile details, roles, photos and media, posts, marketplace listings, job and opportunity posts, messages, and other content you create.
  • Invitations you send — when you invite a friend, we collect the email address you enter in order to send them your invite. We use it to send that email and to avoid inviting someone who is already a member.
  • Usage and device data — basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages and actions within the Service, and timestamps, used for security, debugging, and improving the Service.
  • Cookies — we use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Service (see “Cookies” below). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its social, marketplace, and job-board features;
  • To create and secure your account and authenticate you;
  • To send you transactional emails — email verification, password resets, invites you send, and important account or service notices;
  • To keep the community safe: to enforce our Terms, review reports, and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse;
  • To understand how the Service is used so we can fix problems and improve it;
  • To comply with the law and protect the rights, safety, and property of members and Wevilly.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. What other members can see

Wevilly is a social and professional network, so some information is meant to be seen by others. Your profile, posts, listings, and opportunities are visible to other members and, where you choose, to the public — according to the visibility and privacy settings available in the Service. Please share only what you’re comfortable making visible, and use the privacy settings to control your audience.

4. How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

  • Service providers. We use trusted vendors to operate Wevilly, and they process data only on our behalf: database and hosting (Neon, Railway, Vercel), email delivery (Resend), image and media hosting (Cloudinary), maps and location search (Mapbox), and error monitoring (Sentry).
  • Other members and the public. As described above, based on your content and settings.
  • Legal and safety. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, or property of members or Wevilly.
  • Business transfers. If Wevilly is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction; we’ll note it here if that happens.

5. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies — primarily to keep you signed in and to protect against abuse. These are necessary for the Service to work. We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data.

6. Data retention and pre-alpha resets

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. Because Wevilly is in pre-alpha, we may reset or delete the database — including your account and content — at any time and without notice as we build and test. Please don’t store anything on Wevilly that you can’t afford to lose during this period.

7. Your choices and rights

  • You can view and update most of your information any time from your profile and settings.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by emailing us. During the pre-alpha some of these are handled manually, so please allow us a little time.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; contact us and we’ll do our best to honor them.
  • Transactional emails (like verification and password resets) are part of the Service and aren’t promotional; we’ll keep marketing email to a minimum and honor opt-outs.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information — passwords are stored only as secure hashes, traffic is encrypted in transit, and access is limited. No online service can be perfectly secure, though, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Keep your password private and let us know at support@wevilly.com if you notice anything suspicious.

9. Children

Wevilly is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll remove it.

10. Where your data is handled

Wevilly and our service providers are based in, and process data in, the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed there.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
